Photo: Selvær farm is beautifully situated to the north of Selvær. It is well maintained and has a long history back in time. Actually, the story of Selvær is just as much the story of this farm. See ABOUT SELVÆR - history. Here, moreover, no farm cat is needed to catch mice.

AND WHAT CAN SURPRISE?
A few years ago there was a moose here. Only one and it was only for a short visit. It had probably swum from the islands closer to the mainland and out to Selvær. The moose must have swum across the open Trænfjord - without the opportunity to rest along the way - a stretch of ten to twelve kilometers. Nothing short of impressive.
Later, the moose was also seen on other islands in Træna municipality. Where the elk later took the sea route is unknown. In any case, no moose hunter felled the king of the forest.
The warning sign about moose that one of our pranksters has set up by our quay is like a little reminder of this guest from the mainland.
