TAKE A WALK
TWO HOURS OR TWO DAYS?
Stop peeking at a map of the island. Just take your time. You can not get lost here anyway; the island is too small for that. Then you will discover something new around every turn and every path.
10- 12 RESTPLACES
We have set up some benches around Selvær, such as you see here in the picture: By the water tower with a great view in all directions, three-four benches stand along or near the pier, another in the turn by Ragnar and Lillian and one along the road by the store. Maybe you also find the one standing by the picnic and campfire site in the quarry on the west side of the strait, when you stroll over to Hestøya?
Next door to the shop, we have also carpented a sheltered patio with several small tables; it is always open to our guests, even outside shop hours.
“THE BARBECUE HUT”
And if you want both a picnic area, a view and solid shelter from the weather at the same time: Then you take the trip to the barbecue hut at the top of Nordsommergauken: It is always open.
Just walk around the strait and where the road ends. Then follow the path further 2-300 meters and up to the highest point. There it is for free use. Here you can enjoy food and drink in all kinds of weather. You also get a great view here from 23 meters above sea level and can see - no, sight - towards the sea and skerries in all directions.
A FRESH DIP?
It is a natural pool that gets quickly warm when sunshine and is filled with new seawater at high tide. Here the water is therefore warmer than in the sea.
